Little River Friesians began its journey in 2012 when the owners, Mike and Constance Fernandez, purchased their first two Friesians: Crusader and Gerrie van de Marne. Mike’s personal riding horse, Crusader, is an impressive 1st Premie Ster gelding who loves attention and trail rides with his owners. Crusader inspired a love of the breed in the Fernandezes, and they began carefully purchasing prime horses to include four Model mares, a Preferent mare, a 1st Premie Ster mare, and another Ster gelding.
We have chosen our breeding stock based on exceptional conformation, pedigree, and temperament to ensure we put the very best horses on the ground. Our first year in the new foaling barn was highly successful with the arrival of six happy babies: three gorgeous fillies and three spectacular colts. Every one of our babies is loved and handled from birth to produce a fiery yet tractable, personable, and attentive companion and champion.
Mike and Constance are committed to improving the quality of Friesian horses available in the United States; therefore, Little River aspires to acquire and maintain the best broodmare herd in the country. Our breeding program is highly selective with the goal of producing nothing less than the highest quality. Every year, a select few of our precious horses will be offered for sale to discriminating buyers.
We are located in a pristine setting between beautiful Havana and historic Quincy, Florida---a mere thirty minutes north of our state capital. Our facility is complete with two state-of-the-art barns, a lovely covered riding arena, a spacious round pen, and over forty acres of lush, green pastures. We are also able to enjoy seemingly endless miles of trails on our nearly four-thousand-acre plantation.
